MANOR at Camp John Hay is one of the best places to spend Christmas in the Philippines. You get the cold December weather, log wood cabin accommodations, actual pine Christmas trees, and a romantic restaurant, Le Chef, to complete the festive experience.
Here’s a photo essay of our MANOR at Camp John Hay Baguio Christmas….
The festive lobby welcomes you to the 4-storey Manor at Camp John Hay.
The boys couldn’t resist a photo-op with the Christmas Belen.
Near the lobby is The Piano Bar, a cool hangout lounge adorned with a large fireplace, nightly acoustic performances, and sunset happy hours from 4.00pm – 7.00pm daily.
MANOR ROOM 301
We stayed in a 1-Bedroom Suite family room.
The sala is spacious with TV and a old school sofa.
It has its own dry kitchen with a mini ref, microwave, and wooden furnitures.
The room is equipped with a King Bed and opens to an outdoor patio.
(Note: There’s no airconditioning in all the rooms, only electric fans)
It has a great view of the towering pine trees and the central garden.
The restroom is also old school and a bit narrow…
…and comes with their own branded toiletries.
LE CHEF by Chef Billy King
LE CHEF AT THE MANOR by Chef Billy King is regarded as the BEST fine dining restaurant in Baguio. People would go up to Baguio just to taste Chef Billy King’s food and experience that classic Baguio log cabin ambiance.
It’s lovely dining here during the Yuletide season, with the cold Baguio breeze caressing customers while Christmas tunes play softly in the background.

They are very strict about the dress code and more so if you are staying in the hotel.
The complimentary soft rolls are always a favorite of the boys.
French Onion Soup (P180 +10% service charge).
This soup brings back memories of the numerous times we stayed at Manor, with this hot French Onion soup comforting us amidst the cold alfresco weather.
The Manor Salad (P425 +10% service charge). Assorted greens, fresh fruits & roasted prawns with special sesame dressing & papadoms.
Order this Manor Salad for a light, refreshing salad with crisp papadoms. The greens are always fresh from Baguio farms.
Pasta Ala King (P460 +10% service charge). Fettucini or penne in a pomodoro sauce with olive tapenade, anchovy oil & parmesan flakes.
Their pasta is always cooked al dente and you can customize your own pasta or order this signature one.
The Manor Club Sandwich (P400 +10% service charge) on whole wheat bread, bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese, chicken, egg & ham.
One of the many favorites of Aidan, the classic club sandwich. 🙂
Grilled Tuna Belly (P390 +10% service charge) in balsamic adobo sauce with tomato-mango salad & garlic brown rice.
If we are not in the mood for steaks, we order something healthy like this grilled tuna belly.
Make sure to end the meal with a slice of their signature cakes.
It’s always best to experience Le Chef if you are checked in at The Manor so that you can hangout and take your time, whether that’s a romantic dinner with your special someone or with the family.
Be sure to dress appropriately and make the necessary reservations.

TWIST by Chef Billy King
If you are looking for another place to eat but don’t want to leave the hotel, you can take a walk through the back route to the Forest Lodge beside the Manor.
It also has a nice lobby with a fire place and art all around.
TWIST MENU: Food Menu (10.00am – 11.00pm) | Drinks Menu (6.00am – 11.00pm)
Twist is an Asian Restaurant by Chef Billy King. It would be best to manage your expectations if you decide to dine here.
There are regular exhibits here which provide an artistic highlight to the otherwise plain ambiance.
They have an open kitchen where you can see the dishes prepared from scratch.
Although there’s a chance you’ll smell like your food after eating since the exhaust is not strong enough.
Crab & Corn Egg Drop Soup (P140 +10% service charge).
A good hot soup to start your meal.
Beef Chap Chae (P220 +10% service charge).
A good choice if you are craving for something Korean.
Asian Fried Rice with Chicken and Vegetables “Mongolian Style” (P240 +10% service charge).
This lacked a bit of flavor. I wish I could have just customized my own with more teriyaki and spicy sauces.
Glazed Honey Crispy Pork Belly (P240 +10% service charge) with steamed rice.
Recommended if you are looking for something sweet and porky.
Grilled Salmon Fillet (P280 +10% service charge) with tomato mango salsa and vegetable fried rice.
The salmon was a bit dry but tasted good combined with the mango salsa and vegetable fried rice.
Before you leave, make sure to get a souvenir family shot by the fireplace.
Twist is a good alternative if you’re looking for a place to eat without leaving the hotel premises.

MANOR CHRISTMAS MORNING
The sunrise is beautiful from our window. You can still see the silhoutte of the Cordillera mountains in the distance.
Mornings at The Manor are very energizing. You can’t help but be thankful for all the blessings.
Le Chef’s breakfast is recommended and well curated. Best to sit outdoors amidst the gardens.
Breakfast is served from 6.00am to 10.30am.
You can start of with Manor’s Raisin Bread…
Make sure to indulge in this sweet skinless longganisa…
I love that there’s salted egg with tomatoes available.
A Filipino breakfast to remember with ripe mangoes, white omelet, fresh juice, and hot chocolate.
After breakfast, the boys explored the Philippine-American Friendship Garden.
This totem pole is dedicated to “The brave men and women instrumental in the Philippine-American Friendship”.
ABRAHAM LINCOLN (1809 – 1865). 16th President of the United States. Preserved the American Union during the Civil War and declared that a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
MANUEL L. QUEZON (1878 – 1944). Preserved the Philippine Republic during World War II. “We are a nation. Unity is the requisite of our strength, peace and comfort.”
Here’s a souvenir photo for our family portrait collection.
Mommy Rache with the boys: Aidan, Joshua, and Raphael.
HORSEBACK RIDING
To go to the Horse Back Riding area, you can take a 10 minutes leisurely walk from The Manor.
You go to the area of Filling Station, where the horseback riding starting point is located.
Best to go for a 1 hour ride at P370/hour + guide fees and tip.
The guide would take you through the forest and into the Riding Circle.
I rode with Raphael who enjoyed every moment. The happy, content look on my sons’ faces is just priceless. 🙂
We had to pass through the back routes and into the United States of America embassy area.
Our Baguio experience is never complete without horseback riding with the boys. 🙂
Spending Christmas at The Manor is an experience worth adding to your family tradition. It’s a great way of introducing the next generation to the beauty of Baguio. 🙂
Parking is free for in-house guests. Best to secure a spot in the parking lot nearest the entrance.
